January 2012

  • December 30,  2011 - January 1,  2012   - New Years Event ·   Goldfield Ghost Town, AZ
    The Mojave Muleskinners welcome in the New Year at the Goldfield Ghost town with old friends and new. Gunfights and train robberies with the infamous, Goldfield Gunfighters. Further details will be emailed to our active members. FULL ENCAMPMENT   

  • January 20 - 22,  2012  Apacheland Days @ Superstition Mountain Museum· Apache Junction, AZ
    Apacheland, destroyed by fire in l969, rebuilt and razed by fire, again, on Valentine’s Day, 2004  still lives in the hearts and minds of thousands of western movie buffs and two of its most famous buildings, which survived both fires, stand tall once again at the Superstition Mountain Museum on the Apache Trail. They were disassembled, moved and reconstructed in 2005 and once more the Elvis Memorial Chapel and the famous Apacheland Barn ( also known as the Audrey Murphy Barn) are now open as museums in their own right….testimonials to the many western feature films and TV serials that were produced there from the late l950s until  the town’s  demise. Not only is it a chance to meet and reminisce with Alumni stuntmen and actors but there will be reenactments by the Mojave Muleskinners,   performances by the San Carlos  Apache Dancers, Gold Panning and Black Smith demonstrations, an operating “old time” Photography Studio, walks thru the  Apacheland Barn, now a movie museum and a visit to The Elvis Memorial Chapel,  where the  movie “Charro”, starring Elvis Presley, was filmed in l969.

    Right after the 4:00 show, we'll meet at the Goldfield Church. Following the ceremony there will be a celebration at the Mammoth Saloon!

  • January 28,  2012  3-Year Anniversary Celebration @ What The Hell Bar & Grill, 10262 East Apache Trail · Apache Junction, AZ
    Celebrating their anniversary from 1pm - 4:30pm. What the Hell Bar & Grill is a neighborhood bar & grill that welcomes anyone and everyone who is looking for good food, great drinks, and a great time. Something exciting going on every night of the week and the best live bands in the valley every weekend.

    From 9am - 4pm @ Pioneer Living History Museum, 3901 W. Pioneer Road, Phoenix, AZ 85086. We'll be joining the folks there for a day of rabble-rousing! The village houses 30 historic buildings from the 1880s to the turn of the century. Most of them can be viewed and experienced by the public.

  •  February 25, 2012 Teddy Roosevelt  @ Superstition Mtn. Museum · Apache Junction, AZ  Theodore Roosevelt impersonator at the museum. "Teddy" will be speaking in the amphitheater. "Now look, that damned cowboy is President!" -- Senator Mark Hanna referring To Theodore Roosevelt after McKinley's assassination in September, 1901.

    2 Single Action Shooting Society's National Championship Of Cowboy Action Shooting, Encampment And Frontier Exhibition . Produced By The Arizona Territorial Company Of Rough Riders. Ben Avery Shooting Facility, site of Winter Range, is located in the beautiful Sonoran desert north of Phoenix. To reach Ben Avery Shooting Facility from Phoenix, go north on I-17 to Carefree Highway (exit 223). Turn left at the stop sign, and take the overpass over the freeway. After crossing the cattle guard, the range entrance will be on your right. Follow the Winter Range signs across the range to the parking area.

    The Mojave Muleskinners will be setting up their encampment at the Museum. Underneath the Superstition Mtns, it should prove to be a humdinger of a time for all! Gunfights throughout the weekend!  FULL ENCAMPMENT

  • April 21, 2012 Cowboy Poetry & Music Fest @ Melody Ranch · Santa Clarita, CA
    April 19-22,, 2012. The Mojave Muleskinners and fellow reenactors travel back in time at the Cowboy Poetry & Music Festival for a day of walking among the hallowed streets of the old Gene Autry Ranch where "Gunsmoke", "Magnificent Seven" and many other Westerns were filmed. Melody Ranch is only open to the public once a year during this Festival. The renowned HBO series, "Deadwood"  was filmed there.  www.cowboyfestival.org

    At 11:00 am. The Mojave Muleskinners will be at the "Charo" Chapel. I believe a shotgun wedding is in order? 

May 2012

  • May  19 & 20,  2012  Wild West Encampment  ·  Pioneertown, CA
    This encampment is for all cowboy Reenactors groups, cowboy action shooter groups, mounted shooters, Civil War Reenactors, living historians, Native American history groups, Western Hispanic historical reenactment groups, Sutlers, mounted Calvary and period vendors. The encampment is a time to relax, perform, meet other groups, eat good food and spend some time in the high desert where numerous events of early California history took place, from the the 1840's to beginning of the 20th century. NOTE: Proof of Insurance required if you will be performing. As always, no live ammunition and a gun safety check will be made. Pioneertown is a living old western town where TV programs and movies of the late 1940's and 1950's were filmed, including Gene Autry TV shows, The Annie Oakley show, Range Rider, The Cisco Kid and a long list of various western productions. Free camping is available and there are several hotels in the nearby towns. FULL ENCAMPMENT

    July 21 - 22, 2012. The Prescott Regulators & Their Shady Ladies, Inc. would like everyone to join them at their 7th annual Shootout on Whiskey Row. They throw a really nice event and we always have a wonderful time seeing all the groups and visiting Prescott!

August 2012

    Mojave Muleskinners rendezvous in Virginia City, Nevada.. In the time between the early 1860's through the 1890's, Virginia City was one of the largest and most sophisticated cities in the west. Today, this notoriety is only surpassed once a year with the arrival of the Mojave Muleskinners! The weekend is spent robbing the train and visiting the historical sites. Lodging: Silver Queen Hotel  775-847-0440.

September 2012

  • Sept. 1-3,  2012  Rendezvous Of The Gunfighters · Tombstone, AZ
    Gunfighter groups from throughout the U.S. gather in Tombstone to perform. Activities: Most-authentic costume contest and parade on Sunday. Great way to experience Tombstone without the huge crowds of Helldorado!

  •   October 12-14,  2012 Calico Days @ Calico Ghost Town · Yermo, CA
    n 1881 silver was king in Calico with 22 saloons, mercantile stores, and sterling mines. Over $13 million in silver was mined from the mottled hills that gave the town its name. Walter Knott dedicated Calico Ghost Town to the memory of the heroic miners who lived and toiled here. Today the town thrives... as it did in 1881.

    Gunfight re-enactments featuring the Mojave Muleskinners, Quick draw contest with prize money, Blacksmith, Kiddie rides, Vittles, Merchants with western merchandise, The Cross Town Cowboys, Music and entertainment, Celebrity guests, Stagecoach and much more. Free admission and free parking. 

  • TBA 2012  Chris Menyhart Memorial @ Whitehorse Ranch · Landers, CA
    An annual celebration of the life of Chris Menyhart, son of German Pete, and other friends and family who have left us far too soon. Hosted at the Whitehorse Ranch , German Pete and Minnesnowta Maureen are gracious hosts supplying all who gather with plenty of food & great company!
