"How The West Was Once"

Pioneertown was built as a movie set for western movies of Gene Autry, and others.  The movie set was to provide a place for the actors to live, and have their house used as part of a movie set.  Some of the original investors in the town were Roy Rogers, who also built the Pioneer Bowl, Sons of the Pioneers, which the town was named after.

Pioneertown is a living old western town where TV programs and movies of the late 1940's and 1950's were filmed, including Gene Autry TV shows, The Annie Oakley show, Range Rider, The Cisco Kid and a long list of various western productions. Sutlers, Period Vendors, Townspeople, Mounted Shooters, Period Musicians and several Gunfighter groups:  Desert Guns, Mojave Muleskinners, Gunfighters For Hire, Goldfield Gunfighters, Law Dogs 'N Ladies, Pioneertown Posse and Frontier Army Of The West joined together for a weekend of historical reenactment.
